¿Que es la sauna ceremonial?
La sauna ceremonial, una tradición milenaria de Mesoamérica que se ha practicado durante siglos por diversas culturas indígenas. La palabra temazcal proviene del náhuatl y significa “casa de sudor”.
En el interior del temazcal se colocan piedras volcánicas que se calientan con fuego. Sobre estas piedras se vierten infusiones de plantas medicinales, como romero, eucalipto, salvia o ruda. El vapor que se genera al mezclar el agua con las piedras calientes crea un ambiente similar a una sauna, pero mucho más intenso y ritualizado.

A temazcal, a millenary tradition from Mesoamerica that has been practiced for centuries by various indigenous cultures. The word temazcal comes from Nahuatl and means “house of sweat.”
Inside the temazcal, volcanic stones are placed and heated with fire. Infusions of medicinal plants, such as rosemary, eucalyptus, sage or rue, are poured onto these stones. The steam generated by mixing the water with the hot stones creates an environment similar to a sauna, but much more intense and ritualized.
